George Hunter The Detroit News Comments Prison officials found unauthorized packets of condiments in the cell of accused murderer Robert Bashara, who lied about the items, according to a recent Michigan Department of Corrections report. During a June 9 shakedown of Basharas cell in the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee, prison guards found packets of ketchup, sugar and jelly, along with a spoon and napkins all considered contraband. According to the report, Bashara said he was given permission to take the items from the kitchen, which, the report said, was untrue. Bashara lost his privileges for five days, the report said.
