Associated Press Comments St. Clair Three spawning reefs are planned for the southern St. Clair River in an effort to increase the number of whitefish, walleye and sturgeon. The reefs will cost $2.3 million for the U.S. Geological Survey to build, with funding by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, according to the Times Herald of Port Huron. One reef will be built with cobblestone and limestone on 3 acres at Pointe aux Chenes in Algonac, said Bruce Manny of the Geological Survey. The other reefs will be built near the Harts Landing Light. They will take six to eight months to build. Fish will be attracted to these spots every year, for a long time to come, Manny told the newspaper....
